What is a Recurrent Credit Card token

A recurrent credit card token is a secure digital representation of your customer’s credit card details. Instead of storing or repeatedly transmitting sensitive card information, a unique token is generated and used for future transactions.

Twikey securely stores the underlying payment details linked to the token. As a merchant, you use the token to initiate recurring credit card payments without being exposed to the actual card data. This significantly reduces compliance risks and increases payment security.

Key characteristics

Secure tokenization

Sensitive card data is never shared with the merchant after the initial transaction. The token acts as a safe reference to the stored payment method.

Recurring payments

Once activated, the token can be used to automatically collect recurring payments, such as subscriptions or installment plans.

Compliance and risk reduction

By avoiding direct handling of card details, you limit PCI exposure and enhance overall data protection.

What do you need to get started

To manage recurrent credit card tokens with Twikey, you will need:

  1. A contract with a Payment Service Provider (PSP)
You must have an active agreement with a PSP that is integrated with Twikey.

  2. An initial credit card transaction
A first credit card payment is required to activate and generate the credit card token. Once completed, the token can be used for future recurring transactions.
